Page Design & Copy Editing

I have accumulated extensive experience in the newspaper industry, holding various positions that have shaped my skills as a Designer and Copy Editor. At The Palo Alto Daily News (Menlo Park, 2008-2009), I took on the role of front page designer, actively participating in budget meetings, project planning, and maintaining close collaboration with editors and photographers.

Transitioning to The Salinas Californian (Salinas, 2007-2008), I initially joined as a sports designer and copy editor, but my dedication and talent led to a promotion as the front page designer within just four months. In this capacity, I honed my headline writing and story editing abilities, while actively working with photographers and editors to produce captivating special sections and stories.

An internship at The Desert Sun (Palm Springs, 2007) provided me with invaluable hands-on experience, as I worked full-time assisting in design across the features, entertainment, and special sections department. During this time, I collaborated closely with photographers and designers, contributing to photo shoots and offering support in the news and business sections.

My first design internship at The Arizona Republic (Phoenix, 2006) was a significant milestone achieved through the Chips Quinn Scholars diversity program. Throughout my full-time position, I served as a designer for the community, features, and news desks. Collaborating closely with writers, editors, and photographers, I contributed to the overall layout and design of the newspaper.

In each of these roles, I consistently demonstrated a keen eye for design, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment. I am a dedicated professional with a true passion for creating visually appealing and engaging newspaper layouts that captivate readers and convey information effectively.
